Historics Race Meeting Pukekohe

Some shots from the Historic Racing Club's weekend's racing, over 400 entries, the biggest event I've been in. Several grids had 40 cars. It is at Taupo next weekend.

26 entries in the Formula 5000 event.

A big field of Formula Juniors, Walter Findlay, car 74, of Gisborne, in his ELVA powered by a 3 cylinder Audi 2-stroke. And Nigel Russell, car 30, from Auckland in his FMZ.

This one below (Leonard May, Christchurch, Cooper T52) did a spinner on the Hill.

And gets towed away while the safety car is out.

Muscle cars are always fun, here Paul Urquhart gets muscled onto the grass.

This is the high-tech lap counting system. As the leading car passes the finish line, another one of the 8 stones is moved to the right. When all the stones have been moved, the chequered flag comes out.

Motuoapa Wildlife

The family gathering pictures will be on David's Blog, but here is a shot of Pete on his Laser, and

some of the birds at the marina.

Coots are very stroppy and chase away any other birds in their patch.

The swans need a long takeoff run.

Gannets at Muriwai

We had a different day today, first attending Shane Kennedy's mother's funeral at midday then going on out to Muriwai to check out the gannets and the beach. We won't talk about putting the MX5 in a ditch trying to do a 3-point turn on a gravel road - nice lady living nearby gave us a tug on the tow-rope :-(

Here's the gannet colony, and the best 12 of quite a few pictures:

Dad's going fishing, you kids can go, too. Muriwai is safe, isn't it?
