Ronnie Drew

I was sorry to see Ronnie Drew has died, aged 73. He founded the Dubliners. Here is Seven Drunken Nights one of their first songs, banned when released in 1967 but played on the pirate ship Radio Caroline which resulted in 40,000 sales of the record.

All four Dougs in the same corner!

And here's the bird, a gannet at Muriwai.

And the dawn patrol I promised.

Grandad's Art #2

Thank you for your kind comments, the Circuits & Bumps has had another plane added to take the subject out of the centre, also the clouds softened a bit and Tarawera is now finished (I think). It's A3 sized, canvas-on-a-frame. You can keep altering acrylics, and by watering them down treat them as water colours, so if you don't like something a few dabs will fix it! A light yellow over the sky could make the planes Dawn Patrol.

Grandad's Art

After being inspired by a bus trip involving taking some oldies to two artists studios in Matakana and hearing the artists talking about their methods, I thought 'I could do that!'.

'Circuits and Bumps' at Ardmore.
This is acrylic on a canvas texture, about A4 sized. It's the first one that has not been regarded as a fire lighter.
