de Havilland Mosquito Day
The only flying Mosquito in the world was shown to the public Saturday 29th September 2012. It had its first flight just three days earlier. Warbirds set up the flying display and invited car clubs with British cars to put them on display. 340 cars were there, we went with the Land Rover Owners' Club Auckland.
The Mosquito was just stunning to watch, powered by two Merlin engines. There is a short movie clip here so you can hear the magic sound.
Lots of other aircraft were flying including as many de Havilland planes that they could round up.
This Avro Anson was the first flying one I had seen.
The local Spitfire
Mind your eyebrows!
