More Ardmore

I found that the camera was not set on best JPG size, so I went out to Ardmore for a few more shots. They seem much sharper and less noisy. These images are reduced to under 100K for you dial-up people.

Seems like it was helicopter training day today.

This Transavia PL-12 Airtruk was originally called the Bennett Airtruk, using a Harvard engine. The idea was to save the pilot's life if the plane failed to take off with a full load. The pilot would then career through the bush sitting on top of the engine, instead of being crushed between the fertiliser and the engine as in the Fletcher FU-24. The twin tail booms stopped the tailplanes rotting out, which was also a problem with the Fletchers. See also on Airliners.net.
