Chelsea Sugar Works Hillclimb 2006
This annual hillclimb is run by the Waitemata Branch of the Vintage Car Club in the grounds of the Chelsea sugar works just north of the harbour bridge. About 40 cars entered on a nice sunny day.
Ugly Brute was running well after a week of hassles with the engine getting water in the oil, finally resolved to be a crack in the combustion chamber on #2 cylinder and the spare cylinder head has been fitted. Photography (by Julie) was difficult around the start area as it was shady and dark with bright sunlight in the background.
The view from Ugly-Brute's control room, and some of the waiting queue.
The oldest car was a 1913 DeLage, in original condition (unrestored). Love those wooden spokes! That's the brass acetylene generator on the driver's side running board for the lamps.
