Bumble Bee

This one seemed a bit stunned, so was easy to photograph on the deck.

A Bee

More fun with the poor man's macro.

Bee sitting on a Sunflower leaf. Flew away.

And a lime tree flower.

Birds in the Rain

I'm sure David has some better shots than these (more ISO, bigger lens), but a few bits of bread in the rain produced plenty of action.

First Day at Work (Unpaid)

I joined Warbirds at Ardmore and spent my first volunteer day there on Sunday afternoon. It was pretty quiet with only two planes out, I guess they had had enough flying at the open day last weekend. The work will involve helping shift planes, deal with the public, sell their merchandise and help out on public open days.

In the hangar next door was a P40 Kittyhawk and this Aero L39C Albatross, a jet trainer from Russia and Czechoslovakia dating from about 1974. Had a chat to the owner, he had only had it for 3 weeks, this was his fourth flight. One hour's fuel remains once it lifts off.

A Macro lens for $10

I found on eBay that if you add some rings between an ordinary lens and the camera, you can convert an ordinary lens into an ultra close-up macro lens. You lose the auto focus & exposure but for $10 that's OK.

Here are some shots of Dizzy Lizzy and Alyssum flowers, and a stamp so you can see how big the image is. Taken with a 50mm Nikkor lens.
